The Sony Ericsson Elm is a mid-range handset aimed at environmentally concerned buyers, and is made using recycled plastics, eco-friendly paint and other materials. Packaging is kept to a minimum, with only an electric copy of the manual, and the Elm uses a low-power-consumption design.
Despite its green credentials, the Sony Ericsson Elm is pretty packed with high-end features, including both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, GPS with A-GPS support, expandable microSD storage and a high-quality 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. The 2.2 inch screen offers a decent 240x320 pixel resolution which is plenty sharp enough for most purposes.
The Sony Ericsson Elm uses a custom Flash-based user interface, and comes pre-loaded with a suite of eco friendly apps including environmental quizzes and green calculators. Also included are YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace apps, plus Google Maps and Wisepilot Navigation software. Both push email and instant messaging are supported and the high quality media player application comes with DLNA certification for streaming media from networked sources.
